Reliability and stability are important indicators for measuring VPS hosting/dedicated servers. Although service providers offer uptime guarantees, usually close to 100% SLA (Service Level Agreement), user feedback and independent reviews better reflect the actual stability of the service.

Therefore, based on our experience and user reviews from the Reddit community, we have summarized the following VPS hosting providers for your reference.

Hetzner

Hetzner is a German company with hundreds of thousands of servers, one of the largest data center operators in Europe. User Feedback

1. If you are outside the EU, the verification process can be very difficult.
2. Hetzner has a strict verification process (they asked me for a passport), but once you get in, there are no issues.
3. I have both Contabo and Hetzner, and I can confidently say Hetzner is better. Contabo seems overrated, which is why their offers look good at first glance. Contabo also receives a lot of hate here.

Netcup

Netcup offers high-quality web hosting accounts, domain names, and server operation and management services. This Internet Service Provider (ISP) is based in Karlsruhe and currently has over 200,000 customers, including individuals and well-known companies. Netcup is a member of RIPE, DENIC, eco eV, and other organizations. Numerous awards attest to the quality of Netcup’s services, such as being voted “Web Host of the Year” multiple times in the HOSTtest Readers’ Choice or the Platinum Hosting and Service Provider Award by Vogel IT.

Netcup is a VPS host that I have personally purchased. Like Hetzner, it also requires a strict verification process.

Prices are slightly higher than the previous two. The official website can be a bit confusing, as you need to select the correct location at the top right of the site. If you choose the USA, you can only select North American data centers: the USA and Canada. If you choose France, you can see more options on the product data center selection page.

Final Feedback

• Avoid using Contabo for commercial purposes. DO and Hetzner are both fine. I use Hetzner for personal matters and DO for work.
• Hetzner is picky about account verification, but once you get approved, it’s fine.
• Check out Vultr; I strongly advise against using Contabo.
• I used Contabo for years… until one day they suddenly "upgraded" my VPS, causing all my data to be lost. I had backups but had to rebuild everything, which took a lot of time. I never requested the upgrade, and my account was not compromised. I no longer trust Contabo; they are, at the very least, unreliable.
